Nancy Allen received her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Music in voice performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, MD where she graduated with honors. While in Maryland she studied with soprano Ruth Drucker and world renowned vocal coach Thom Houser. She also attended Vanderbilt University as an undergrad and received a BS in communications graduating magna cum laude. While at Vanderbilt she studied at The Blair School of Music with Winnifred Breast. Although classically trained, her love for musical theater has led her to perform with almost every professional theater in Nashville. When not on the stage, Nancy is a voice instructor at Belmont University where she has taught voice to musical theater majors and directed the freshman showcase since 2007. In addition, Nancy works as a studio singer and has sung for Lifeway and Cokesbury publishing houses. She has released three recordings, “Shall We Gather”, “A Christmas Kiss” and “Distant Melody”, the last of which received a Parent’s Choice award.
Nancy has been featured with Nashville Opera in their world premier of Surrender Road by Marcus Hummon and in Puccini’s Turandot in 2007. She has performed with the Nashville Symphony Chorus, with the Billy Graham organization, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and as soloist with The Waco Symphony Orchestra. She resides in Nashville, TN with her husband, two children, and three dogs.
